22nd INTERNATIONAL BUILDING AND BUILDING MATERIALS FAIR MEGRA EXPANDED CONSTRUCTION HORIZONS “I estimate the 22nd International Building and Building Materials Fair - MEGRA 2009 to be a success, even exceeding exhibitors', visitors' and organisers' expectations. From March 31 to April 4, 2009, 460 exhibitors from 18 countries were represented at 20,800 m2 exhibition spaces, proving that Slovenia plays an important part in the modern European and global construction development. Domestic companies demonstrated at the fair that the Slovenian construction and building material industry are excellently qualified for the most challenging construction projects at home and abroad. The economy needs capable construction industry in order to build energy-saving and environmentally friendly buildings and infrastructure. The technical happening at the fair exposed also some issues regarding the organisation, legislation, human resources and, as a consequence, also regarding education. At the same time, numerous solutions of these issues became visible, together with a clearer view into the future. As the fair organiser, we were satisfied with the number of visitors which exceeded 24,000. During this week, Gornja Radgona, a region where four countries meet, was the best equipped construction site in Slovenia looking into sustainable development. Therefore, we'll start preparing for the 2010 MEGRA Fair already tomorrow with optimism!” Janez Erjavec, Director of Pomurski sejem
